Justin Townes Earle is a guy that I’ve been hearing a lot about lately. He played Newport and he’ll be playing Orlando Calling in November. He was bound for success. His dad is “Texas Country” great Steve Earle, and he’s named after Townes Van Zandt, a friend of his father.
I like most of Earle’s music that I’ve heard so far, but this is my favorite tune so far.

I heard “Freight Train” for the first time a few years ago on NPR. They introduced a female folk artist and friends that were releasing a six song EP of blues and traditional covers. The idea interested me, and it proved to be worth getting a hold of. If you like what you hear, you can download the EP from Hush Records.
Recently I was asked what the theme song for I Said, Yeah! was and I realized we never played it on our show or anything. It just became the theme and that was it. The song is “54-46 Was My Number,” a fantastic song and the best theme song there is, not that I’m biased or anything.
